Job Description

Description PURPOSE Process study samples for accessioning, storage, onward shipping or Laboratory Testing according to study requirements. RESPONSIBILITIES * Accession received samples according to standard operating procedures and study requirements in a timely manner. * Route any samples intended for same day analysis to the lab in a timely manner. * Execute quality control check and identification of incoming specimens. * Remand samples with discrepancies into designated storage locations. * Work directly with the client or study manager to resolve sample discrepancies. * Prepare and package specimens requiring onward shipping to outside recipients for testing. * Ensure that scheduled shipments are made as per sponsor requirements. * Discard any samples when required. * Review, action and close any ad-hoc requests assigned. * Provide support to line management in any tasks applicable to the daily running of the department. * Sort incoming specimens for testing, storage or onward shipping. * Ensure that all shipments incoming and outgoing meet shipping regulatory requirements. * Ensure specimen integrity by maintaining specimens at the proper temperature conditions and taking proactive steps to prevent temperature variance. * Assist with routine freezer maintenance. * Manage the specimen management requirements of higher complexity studies. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES * Good working knowledge of relevant procedures * Ability to liase with internal departments * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers and clients MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE * Associates degree is minimum - bachelors is a nice to have. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS * Extensive use of telephone and face-to-face communication requiring accurate perception of speech * Extensive use of keyboard requiring repetitive motion of fingers * Regular sitting for extended periods of time Skills Specimen processing, Data entry, Sample, Lab, Accession, Document, manufacturing process, Sample prep, Inventory, lean six sigma, lean manufacturing Top Skills Details Specimen processing,Data entry Additional Skills & Qualifications BS is optional - BS in bio, or science related field is a plus. 0+ years experience When sourcing, if the candidate has 0 experience then they would open to a candidate that is a former athlete, band member, or worked throughout college. This shows a matured professionalism when receiving first position. Experience Level Entry Level Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Durham, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
