Job Title: Lead technical Writer

Location: Greenville, TX (Onsite)

Start Date: December 1

Duration: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire

Clearance: Ability to obtain a Secret clearance

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced S1000D Subject Matter Expert to join our team in Greenville, TX. This role is critical for ensuring compliance with S1000D standards and supporting structured data initiatives for aerospace programs within the DoD industry. You will serve as the go-to authority for S1000D authoring, tools, and processes, while driving quality and efficiency across technical publications projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary S1000D SME , providing guidance on authoring standards, tools, and best practices.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot S1000D projects for process issues, including CSDB linking, workflow errors, and incorrect implementations.
  • Collaborate with software development teams to test tools, resolve bugs, and improve processes.
  • Host weekly S1000D meetings to share updates, provide training, and mentor authors and leads.
  • Create and deliver presentations on S1000D initiatives, changes, and proposals to program management and customers.
  • Serve as the focal point for end-user viewer issues, determining root causes and implementing solutions.
  • Support quality meetings and IPTs for program process control and continuous improvement.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Expert-level experience with S1000D standards and structured data management
  • Proficiency in Adobe FrameMaker
  • Background in aircraft technical publications within the DoD industry
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technical Communications, or related field
  • Active Secret clearance
  • Familiarity with Triad CSDB , Recon, and Peregrine projects
  • Knowledge of XML/SGML and structured authoring principles

Compensation:

$54/hr to $60/hr.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
