Job Description

Paint Creek Center for the Arts (PCCA) is seeking a candidate for a full-time, salaried position as Manager of Artist Engagement. The primary role of this position is to support PCCA’s efforts in growing and maintaining our network of artists, including those who submit work to our art market and Art & Apples Festival. This job description is not inclusive of all responsibilities that the selected candidate may be asked to perform.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Art & Apples Festival

  • Communications including in-person, phone, e-mail, and printed information such as instructions, rules, and contracts.
  • Securing payments including artist booth fees, application fees, etc.
  • Assigning booth spaces for festival artists based on paid fees and special requests.
  • Soliciting new and returning artist submissions, including finding new methods of marketing PCCA activities.
  • Recruit and communicate with jurors, both on-site and ahead of the festival.
  • Point person for artists before, during, and after the festival including: Managing Zapplication process, responding to questions, supervising load in and load out, overseeing the assembly of artist packets, etc.

PCCA Activities

  • Oversee Art Gallery, including selection of work, display of art, payment to artists, and planning of opening receptions (5-7 shows per year).
  • Work with Exhibitions Committee in planning of gallery shows, themes, and formats.
  • Managing payment of Art Market artist commissions on a monthly basis.
  • Review and determine submissions for inclusion in the art market.
  • Organize and arrange art market items to be aesthetically appealing to visitors.
  • Support other work of PCCA including Art Education; Class, Workshop and Camp registrations; Holiday Silent Auction and other duties as required.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in a relevant field of study (Business; Fine Arts; Liberal Arts; Visual & Performing Arts; similar fields)
  • 2 or more years' experience in a related field of work
  • Experience with large public festivals (work experience preferred; volunteerism acceptable depending on other qualifications)
  • Ability to work independently to complete tasks correctly and in a timely manner
  • Strict attention to detail
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn other software platforms including but not limited to ActiveNet and Square.
  • Proven organizational skills, with a strong ability to set priorities, manage multiple tasks, develop and manage calendars
  • Ability to consistently represent PCCA in a welcoming, friendly, and professional manner
  • Skills necessary to communicate effectively both in writing and speaking
  • Passion for art presentation and providing artmaking experiences required
  • High level of proficiency in Excel
  • Ability to work well with others is an important part of PCCA’s small but growing team

Hours

Paint Creek Center for the Arts’ hours of operation are listed below. Employees typically work 9:00am – 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. Due to class and art gallery hours, employees should expect to work at least one late night per week (11:00am to 7:00pm shift), one Saturday per month (9:30am – 4:00pm) and one Sunday per month (9:30am – 3:00pm). Weekends and late nights will be flexed with other days so that employees work no more than 40 hours per week.

Additional hours will be required during and leading up to special events and programs, such as the Art & Apples Festival® and the Holiday Silent Auction.

Hours of Operation

· Monday – Thursday: 9:00am to 7:00pm

· Friday: Closed

· Saturday: 10:00am to 4:00pm

· Sunday: 10:00am to 3:00pm

Pay and Benefits

This position pays between $44,000 and $49,000 annually, depending on the candidate’s qualifications and experience. After 90 days of employment, employees receive 10 paid time off (PTO) days per year. All full-time employees receive 17 holidays per year, including the closing of the office for the final two weeks of the calendar year.

After 90 days of employment, PCCA will contribute $150 per month towards an employer provided healthcare plan.

PCCA employees are allowed to take 2 complimentary studio art classes each year.
