Job Description

About Miller Engineering

We’re a growing, employee-owned structural and forensic engineering firm that thrives on solving complex problems from structural failures and building envelope issues to everything in between. Forensic engineering involves applying technical expertise, investigative grit, and clear communication to uncover the root causes of failures and guide clients toward safe, lasting solutions.

We’re not just hiring employees; we’re building future partners . As part of our employee ownership, this role offers a direct path to equity and leadership for the right engineer. You won’t be a number here; you’ll be part of a tight-knit, passionate team that loves tackling challenges together and takes pride in doing work that matters.

The Role

As part of our forensic inspection team, you’ll:

  • Conduct forensic inspections of residential and commercial buildings.
  • Research and apply building codes during investigations and reporting.
  • Determine the cause of structural failures and document findings.
  • Prepare technical reports that clearly communicate complex conditions.
  • Develop repair design documents and remediation recommendations when needed.
  • Maintain organized inspection records.

What We’re Looking For

  • Licensed Structural Engineer (P.E. or ability to obtain in the near term preferred).
  • Strong field presence: comfortable working at heights, in crawlspaces, and in varied weather.
  • Clear communicator who can translate engineering findings for clients and non-engineers.
  • Skilled in technical writing with excellent attention to detail.
  • Solid computer skills (Microsoft Office required; AutoCAD experience preferred or willingness to learn).
  • Construction experience is a plus.
  • Team-oriented with initiative to grow into a leadership role.

Why Join Us?

  • Competitive salary, benefits, and continuing education support.
  • Work with a passionate, collaborative team that values independence, problem-solving, and shared success.
  • A direct pathway to ownership: you’ll have the opportunity to become an equity partner and help shape the future of the firm.

If you’re looking for more than just a job, if you want a career where your forensic skills help solve complex problems, strengthen communities, and grow your stake in a thriving company, we’d like to meet you.

Salary: $120,000 to $150,000 (based on experience)
