Job Description

Sr. Project Estimator (Heavy Civil)

Seeking an experienced estimator to lead full‑cycle pre‑construction efforts and deliver accurate, competitive hard‑bid estimates for complex heavy civil projects. This role focuses on deep foundations, heavy utilities, deep excavation, pump stations, wastewater treatment facilities, and complex underground construction.

Key Responsibilities

Estimating & Analysis

  • Lead development of complete, detailed hard‑bid estimates for heavy civil projects.
  • Perform quantity take-offs for deep excavation, shoring, structural work, and utility systems.
  • Interpret geo-technical reports and LiDAR data to determine excavation classifications and methods.
  • Review and cross-check civil, structural, and pipe drawings, specs, and contract documents.
  • Analyze costs for labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and general conditions.

Systems & Technology

  • Utilize AGTEK for earthwork analysis and take-offs.
  • Use Bluebeam for document review and measurement verification.
  • Build cost models and bid summaries using advanced Excel functions.
  • Maintain organized records of bids, quotes, and estimate documentation.

Project Coordination

  • Solicit, analyze, and negotiate subcontractor/vendor proposals.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure constructability and smooth project turnover.
  • Conduct site visits to verify existing conditions and project scope.
  • Manage timelines and ensure all deliverables meet bid deadlines.

Qualifications

  • 7–10+ years of heavy civil estimating experience (deep excavation, shoring, heavy utilities, WWTP, deep foundations).
  • Experience or strong understanding of project management principles.
  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • Proficiency in AGTEK, Bluebeam, and advanced Excel.
  • Strong knowledge of heavy civil construction, utilities, deep excavation, and structural systems.
  • Skilled in interpreting drawings, specs, and geo-technical reports.
