Job Description

The Staff Accountant facilitates the efficient operation of the Finance Department by performing a variety of accounting and administrative tasks. This role also participates significantly in data entry and report generation tasks necessary for the monthly financial close process.

Responsibilities

• Conducts routine data entry for accounting records and systems including accounts receivable, rebates & credit notes, or accounts payable
• Reviews submitted reports or claims for accuracy in accordance with Spartan Chemical’s authorized programs prior to credit or rebate issuance
• Coordinates with the plant and customer service on product returns
• Assists in the month end close process by reconciling certain general ledger accounts
• Calculates and posts journal entries for month end and year end close
• Generates reporting at month end for review by the Controller
• Performs data analysis in Excel using functions like v-lookup, pivot tables, etc.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by Controller or CFO

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Applicable experience or college degree preferred

Required Skills

• Applicant must be reliable and highly organized
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures
• Ability to efficiently operate a 10-key calculator or equivalent and other related office equipment
• Basic mathematical skills
