Job Description

6-12+ Month Contract Position w/option to extend or convert to perm

Location - Rosemont, IL (1 day a week onsite)

Our client is looking to add a Scrum Master to their team that will act as a servant leader and coach for one or more Agile teams, responsible for optimizing team delivery, improving team dynamics, and enabling a culture of continuous improvement. While the role title reflects Scrum, this position supports teams across a variety of Agile frameworks and ways of working. Key responsibilities include facilitating Agile ceremonies, removing impediments, managing dependencies, and promoting transparency in delivery. The Scrum Master supports team growth, ensures alignment to delivery goals, and fosters an environment of collaboration, accountability, and innovation.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as a servant leader and coach for Agile teams, supporting team growth, self-organization, and accountability.

• Facilitate core team ceremonies (e.g., planning, refinement, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives), tailored to the team’s delivery approach.

• Guide teams in establishing and maintaining effective working agreements, including definitions of readiness and done.

• Leverage Azure DevOps (ADO) to support Agile delivery — including sprint planning, backlog refinement, work item tracking, and dashboard reporting.

• Ensure ADO boards are consistently updated and accurately reflect team progress, backlog health, and dependencies.

• Promote Agile metrics through ADO to enable transparency, predictability, and data-driven decision-making.

• Foster a continuous feedback culture through retrospectives, team check-ins, and one-on-one coaching, helping teams identify improvement opportunities and follow through on actionable outcomes.

• Actively coach individuals and teams on Agile principles and best practices, helping to improve collaboration, delivery efficiency, and team dynamics.

• Identify and remove impediments that block team progress, coordinating with other teams and stakeholders as necessary.

• Support cross-team collaboration by managing dependencies and facilitating alignment across multiple delivery teams.

• Drive a culture of continuous improvement, experimentation, and learning, encouraging teams to evolve their processes to better meet delivery goals.

Qualifications:

• 8+ years of experience in Agile delivery roles, with extensive experience as a Scrum Master or Agile team lead.

• Strong working knowledge of Agile frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, or equivalent.

• Demonstrated expertise using Azure DevOps for Agile planning, tracking, and reporting.

• Experience supporting and coaching high-performing, cross-functional Agile teams.

• Strong facilitation, interpersonal, and stakeholder engagement skills.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to adapt for technical and non-technical audiences.

• Proven experience in identifying and removing blockers, managing team dependencies, and fostering team health.

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Systems, Business) or equivalent experience.

• Agile certifications (e.g., CSM, A-CSM, SAFe SM, PMI-ACP) strongly preferred.

• Ability to customize ADO dashboards and reports to meet stakeholder and team needs.

The anticipated hourly rate range for this position is ($65-72/hr). Actual hourly rate will be based on a variety of factors including relevant experience, knowledge, skills and other factors permitted by law. A range of medical, dental, retirement and/or other benefits are available after a waiting period.
